Tech Tip - Type Faster With Windows 11 Using "Voice Typing"
The Windows 11 "voice typing" feature uses online speech recognition so that you can input text on your PC simply by talking.
Prerequisites: Your computer needs to have a working microphone and have an internet connection
Here is how to use it:
- Place the cursor in the text area you want to type (such as a Word document or a search box)
- Press the Windows key + H
- Click on the microphone icon (you should hear a bleep to let you know the mic is enabled)
- Voice typing will start to listen, waiting for you to speak. Note: a text bubble with "Listening" will appear above the mic to show that it is listening, wait for this to show before you start to speak
- It will then transcribe everything you say into the text area that the cursor is
- To stop the voice typing either say "stop listening" or click on the microphone icon
