Tech Tip : Use Virtual Desktops to streamline the way you work
Virtual desktops gives you the ability to have more than desktop running on your computer, each one running its own tasks and applications.
This is really useful if you have streams of work you want to keep separate, give each work stream its own virtual desktop to work in.
Here is how to do it:
- In Microsoft Windows press the Windows key + Tab key to open task view
- Click on New Desktop (at the top), this will open a new virtual desktop
- When you have more than one desktop running in Windows, you can move between then by using the Windows key + CTRL + Left arrow to scroll left through the desktops and Windows key + CTRL + Right arrow to scroll right through the desktops
- You can drag and drop running windows from your main desktop screen into other virtual desktops to help you split things into group and organise things better
- Right click on any thing in task manager to move it to new apps on any open desktop
Give it a go and see if virtual desktops helps you organise and manage your workload
