Tech Tip – How To Stop Website Notifications Using Google Chrome's "Mute Site" Option
Are there times when you go to a website and you feel a little bit overwhelmed by all of the pop up messages such as a customer service "live chat" popup window or various pop up messages about offers and discounts that are totally irrelevant and annoying.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to browse to a site and just get the information you wanted without being bombarded by these pop up messages and windows?
Here is how to do it:
- Open the Google Chrome web browser
- Browse to the website you want to mute popups on
- Right click on the tab at the top of the page for that website (tabs are when you have one or more website open in your browser allowing you to switch between sites quickly)
- Select "Mute Site" from the menu that appears (Select "Mute Tab" in Microsoft Edge Chromium)
- You can now browse the site without having annoying popups appear each time you click on a link in the site
Enjoy!
