Tech Tip – How To Ask For Sources In ChatGPT

If ever you have produced any content by using ChatGPT, sometimes it would be good to check the sources because, as wel now know, ChatGPT can sometimes generate incorrect information.

Here is how to do it:

• Go to ChatGPT by clicking here: Introducing ChatGPT (openai.com)
• Click on the "Try ChatGPT" button
• If you have an account, sign in, if not register then sign in
• Click on the "+New Chat" button at the top left of the screen
• Type your question or request in the "Send a message" box at the bottom of the screen
• When you see the results you can type "can you show me the sources for your reply?"
• ChatGPT will then list all of the sources that it used to generate the reply so you can verify if the information you have got if from a credible source, or, as sometimes happens, see if it is a work of fiction that ChatGPT has created
• If you would like ChatGPT to find you more sources of information you can type something like "please provide me with popular links related to... (subject you want to search for)", for example: "Please provide me with popular links related to cleaning burnt saucepans"
