Tech Tip – Five Ways To Speed Up Charging Your Phone
Have you ever been caught short and found yourself with a phone that has a low battery and you need to charge it up but have limited time?
Here are five ways to speed up the charge time:
- Put your phone in airplane mode - if you put your phone into airplane mode, it will turn off the bulk of the radio communications in the phone, which will dramatically reduce the amount of power being consumed by the phone, with the knock on effect being the battery will charge up faster.
- Close all background running applications - applications that are running in the background can use a lot of power, if you look at your phone usage and list the applications, you can see the applications that consume the most time and power whilst running in the background. This will reduce the amount of power being consumed by the phone, with the knock on effect being the battery will charge up faster.
- Use a wall power outlet - use a power socket with a power adapter to charge the phone rather than a USB cable from a device, such as a computer. This will increase the speed the phone charges up.
- Turn off the phone - it is a simple trick but if you turn your phone off whilst charging, it will use very little power whilst it is charging up the battery, which will speed up the charge time.
- Use a fast charger - If you phone supports it, and you have one, use a fast charger to charge the phone, fast charges (the ones that can deliver up to 30W of power) can charge devices up to six times faster than a conventional charger.
